Cafe - in the MIDDLE
A moment to unwind in the city.
Situated in Shinjuku 5-chome, Cafe - in the MIDDLE is a relaxed spot offering eye-catching carrot cake, savory hot dogs, coconut lattes, and natural wine.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Among the baked goods lined up in the showcase, the carrot cake—crowned with piped, rounded dollops of frosting—is the natural first choice. Rich cream cheese frosting balances the texture of walnuts and raisins folded through the crumb, creating a substantial bite that remains easy to finish. Seasonal cakes and pound cakes rotate regularly, giving you something new to discover on return visits.
For a heartier meal, the hot dog loaded with carrot râpées and pickles over sausage hits the spot. A crisp-crusted bun and juicy sausage get a welcome lift from the acidity and crunch of the vegetables. You can add cheese to your meal, or opt for a plate featuring mixed vegetables, sausage, and your choice of cornbread or a scone—an ideal setup for brunch.
The drinks range well beyond standard drip and espresso drinks to include sweet, aromatic coconut lattes and house-made chai. Drinks also span lemon sours made with pesticide-free lemons, natural wine by the glass, and craft bottled beers, making the cafe function smoothly as a casual bar during weekend evening hours. Dogs are welcome both indoors and outdoors, and the counter and table seating make it easy for solo guests to settle in comfortably.
